KENNESAW STATE UNIVERSITY DANCE THEATER
Deeksha School of Performing Arts proudly presents Rama Vaidyanathan and Dakshina Vaidyanathan accompanied by Sannidhi Vaidyanathan, in her new choreographic composition - "Shaktya"
This production features a mother with her two daughters, where they portray women characters from mythology, history and contemporary times. Women who have inspired, have shown exemplary courage and have taken the difficult path to stand by their convictions. The Goddess in the Indian ethos who is considered as the quintessential woman symbolizing empowerment, has set the stage for the entire female principle to be inspired, where every woman looks for the Goddess within her. This work tells the stories of many such women who have manifested the presence of the Goddess within them by speaking the unspoken and by treading the uncharted path.
Concept, Script, and Choreography by Rama Vaidyanathan

ABOUT RAMA VAIDYANATHAN
Rama Vaiyanathan is a leading exponent of Bharatanatyam, a popular classical dance form of India. She is undoubtedly one of the most sought after artistes of her generation, having carved a name for herself in the Bharatanatyam world. She has trained intensively under the legendary dancer Yamini Krishnamurthy and the renowned Guru Saroja Vaidyanathan. Everyone who has seen Rama perform is struck by her unique thought process and fresh approach to dance. While deeply rooted in tradition, she has evolved her own individual style without forsaking the core principles of Bharatanatyam. She brings to her dance a rare sense of devotion and dedication, which leaves the audience with a sense of spiritual fulfillment.
