"Dancing with Traditions"
Welcome to Deeksha School of Performing Arts!
We look forward to another exciting year for our students and hope you will continue to fuel their passion and hone their talent with us. At Deeksha School, we live by our motto - Dancing with Traditions. Dancing with traditions mean the pursuit of traditional art forms while appreciating and infusing contemporary art forms of dance as well. While we specialize in the Indian Classical Dance form of Bharatanatyam, we respect all dance forms and we believe in dance as a highest form of expression of one's creativity and intellect. Our passion for dance is articulated in the below poem.
What differentiates us from other schools is that we focus on building a love for dance in our students, which then manifests over time into a passion, thus promoting the students talent through their own hard work and enthusiasm for the dance form. Most of Deeksha students are passionate about dance, have never left the school and continue to be associated with it for a long time. We immerse ourselves in the teaching process and our teachers actually dance along with our students to show you how it is done. Our teachers are performers as well.
We prefer quality over quantity and work using smaller groups of students who have the same level of skill and passion. Our attrition rate is "Zero" after the first year of training because during that year we encourage students, parents and our teachers to gauge the level of interest and potential in the student. Once students pass that initial year after they step into our dance school, they continue to foster their love for the dance form until they graduate and move away from Atlanta. Even then we find our students coming back time and again to renew their love for the dance form and immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the Natyalaya.
Deeksha School of Performing Arts (DSPA) is proud of our students and their achievements in the field of dance and creative arts. We encourage our students to express their creativity and pursue their passion in earnest. Your love for dance is paramount. It drives us and our decisions. We promise to strive to meet your need as best as we can. At any time, if you or our teachers are not satisfied, we encourage honest discussions about the process, the future and the interest of our students to pursue the art form.
“We dance for laughter, we dance for tears,
we dance for madness, we dance for fears,
we dance for hopes, we dance for screams,
we are the dancers, we create the dreams.”
